Abstract

We learn by doing, or as Aristotle put it “we become zitherist by playing the zither”. This article describes such “learning by doing” experience in the subject “History of Modern Social Education”, 1st year of the Social Education Degree. Students were required to focus on their daily life, and be ready to bump into human misery and pain, in order to question themselves about what they could do to avoid it. Later, they approached theory in this subject, so that they might be provided with a sound foundation for their action plans. They were eventually implemented with success.
